... okay so i am back on the Starsky and Hutch, gleefully rewatching Season 1 with all the happiness I got out of it the first million times I watched it.
So this morning I put on "Captain Dobey, You're Dead" and the very first time the intrepid duo appear we get this little exchange.
[Hutch is typing a report, looking grumpy. His responses are all grudging and he only glances up briefly at Starsky from time to time before looking down again at his typewriter. Starsky is lounging in a chair with his feet on Hutch's desk.]Starsky:
Why don't you just admit it. You're ticked off because of what happened last night.Hutch:
No I'm not.
...
Starsky, what was the colour of that car, the second car in that smash-up, was it red or orange?Starsky:
Neither. It was flamingo.Hutch:
Flamingo.Starsky:
Yeah. My mother had a '47 Studebaker that was the same colour.Hutch:
No kidding.Starsky:
No.
...
You sure it had nothing to do with last night?Hutch:
Yeah, I'm sure.[Hutch sits back and takes a book out of his desk drawer, throwing it over to Starsky.]
I've been meaning to give that to you for some time now.
Starsky:
"Madam Olga's Self-Help Program to Become Right-Handed"?Hutch:
Starsky, if your best friend can't tell you, who can?[Hutch gets up, pulls his report from the typewriter, goes through to put it on Captain Dobey's desk, then returns.]
Sooner or later you gotta realise that this whole world was designed for right-handed people. You're just outta step.
Starsky:
I do all right.Hutch:
Aren't you a little tired of doing just "all right"?
Which is followed through the entire episode with Hutch making little snarky cracks about left-handed people with NO EXPLANATION. I am sure most of you can imagine where *my* brain is going with it.
I have no idea how I missed this before. Obviously I knew about Starsky being left-handed, but...
