You know how it is... you're sitting in bed at half past five on a Sunday morning waiting for the moon to be eclipsed by the Earth's shadow and hoping to goodness you get to see at least a little bit of it because, man, you want to see it so badly... and you realise you haven't updated your blog for a long time.
So you decide to update it because you've still got 5 minutes until your next moon check, and you're fairly sure it's not going to start doing anything really cool for at least another half-hour.
I have mostly been running around like a headless chicken for the last month because now there are only 3 weeks or so of school left, and in that time I have to somehow fit in finishing off all our textbooks, doing a bloody Shakespeare play, finally catching up on my marking and writing these blasted curriculums (curriculae?). I finally managed to get into the science prep room and sort it out in there so at least all the things that are the same are together, but some silly person bought me a fricking CHEMICAL CABINET as storage, which is really not helpful when all I really need is a bunch of little plastic drawers to keep compasses, wire, batteries, thermometers, magnifying glasses etc in.
On Friday, Yusuke, bless his awesome little cotton socks, was sitting with me at lunch time, and came up with the first pun I have heard one of my kids make in English...
"Ms. Aitken's hair is ca-ri- (curly), like curry rice!"
He looked slightly surprised when I sat there laughing hysterically for 5 minutes.
Still don't know who I'm teaching next year. Man I love this school. o.O
